Recently, sustained high temperatures have hit the whole country, and commuting by electric vehicle leaves one drenched in sweat. So what should we watch out for when riding an electric vehicle in summer?

1. Do not expose the vehicle to scorching sun

On a hot summer day, staying under the sun for a while can easily give you heatstroke. The vehicle is just an object, but direct exposure will also cause problems: the chance of a battery being scrapped rises sharply in such weather, and battery fires under high temperature are all too common. So when parking in summer, be sure to keep the vehicle away from scorching sunlight.

2. Do not charge at high temperature

Rural users often charge their vehicles in the yard. That may be fine at other times, but in the deadly hot summer, combined with the heat produced during charging, both the battery and the charger can overheat, and at any careless moment the plastic case of the battery may melt or even catch fire. So always charge in a cool, ventilated place.

3. Never charge right after riding

Many users like to charge the battery immediately after riding, but there is a problem: after a ride the battery temperature is already very high, plus the hot summer air, charging directly then drives the temperature up all the way, possibly beyond the critical point and ultimately causing spontaneous combustion.

4. Do not use chargers at random

Users have more or less had such an experience: the vehicle runs out of power while the charger is not at hand, so they borrow someone else. At first glance it seems fine, but it is not scientific. Different batteries need different matched chargers; mixed use can cause short circuits or insufficient charging, and in the hot summer a wrong charger does even greater harm to the battery.
