Electric vehicles are favored by consumers for their environmental friendliness and convenience, but the battery, as their energy source, is a consumable. So how should the electric vehicle battery be maintained in everyday use?

1. When starting or riding into the wind and up slopes, it is best to start with human assistance. For simple models, use the pedal assist when starting, climbing or riding against strong wind, to reduce the battery load and extend its life; for luxury models, start gently instead of twisting the throttle to the end for rapid acceleration, and release the throttle when going downhill. When the power is low, ride at a lower speed. Under no circumstances should you keep riding electrically in the under-voltage state.

2. Never overload when using an electric bicycle. The designed load is generally 75 kg, that is, one rider. Overloading causes long high-current discharge that damages the battery, which is the main reason for shortened battery life.

3. Note that battery capacity varies with time and environment. Generally capacity gradually drops as the number of uses increases. In low temperature the capacity also decreases, but it recovers when the temperature rises.

4. Master the correct charging method. The battery should be used at an ambient temperature of 0-40℃ and charged at room temperature. Watch the charger status and keep to a normal charging time, preventing under-charging or overcharging. When any charging abnormality appears, consult a professional in time to avoid damaging the battery. Charge right after use, ideally every day; if one trip exceeds 20 km, charge in time rather than waiting until the power is completely used up. If the battery is stored unused for a long time, recharge it regularly.

5. Maintain the battery regularly. After long use, if the charge seems low, especially if the battery heats severely while charging, ask a repairman or open the battery cover yourself, remove the rubber caps and add 5-15 ml of pure water to each cell to extend the battery use time. Besides, batteries of different models or of different ages must not be used in series or together, and batteries from different manufacturers must not be mixed. When replacing batteries, change the whole set at once.

6. Take battery pollution seriously. Used batteries should be handed to designated collection stations rather than thrown away at random, so as not to pollute the environment.
