During use, an electric vehicle battery gradually loses capacity and its performance declines, until at the end of its service life it can no longer meet the user's requirements and the battery must be replaced. To keep the vehicle running reliably, pay close attention to the battery's condition and replace it in time. So when is it time for a new battery?

1. The battery's actual discharge capacity has fallen to around 60% of its rated capacity and cannot be noticeably raised by maintenance; in this case it can be judged scrap. This is because during use, once the capacity fades to about 60%, performance decays sharply, the components have basically all reached a deteriorated state, and this decline tends to accelerate; the battery will soon lose its charge and discharge ability completely.

2. Whether charging or discharging, the battery case heats up severely. The heating is caused by serious shedding of the active material on the plates, which increases internal resistance and heat output. If you open the battery safety valve to check at this point, you will find the electrolyte has turned black; when failure is serious it cannot be repaired. At this stage the battery self-discharges quickly, and sometimes it dies soon after being charged.

3. The battery shows full in less than 30 minutes of charging, yet runs out of power in less than 1 km of riding. A battery at the end of its life sees all its performance drop sharply and become extremely unstable, which can cause serious consequences such as overheating and deformation during charging, short circuits, and open circuits. Therefore, when a battery reaches the end of its service life, it should be replaced with a new battery promptly.
