Why Does the Riding Range of an Electric Vehicle Shrink?
For every electric vehicle user, the biggest worry is running short of power while out on a trip. It seriously affects the riding range. So what causes the battery power to drop, and how can the riding range of an electric vehicle be better extended? Here we share the causes of low power in electric vehicles.
First, motor problems.
The motor is the component that consumes the most power, and the market contains refurbished and re-grounded motors with high power consumption, a low slot fill rate, and magnet steel of insufficient purity. Some motors also give off a lot of heat while running, which increases power loss and reduces the battery riding range.
Second, controller problems.
The controller is the brain of the electric vehicle. Once the brain fails, even a vehicle that used to run well is finished. Poor-quality controllers make the current swing between large and small, which keeps the battery from working normally and shortens the driving range.
Third, charger problems.
To cut costs, many charger makers use circuits and internal electronic components of poor quality that break easily, with charging voltage that is either too high or too low. Using such a charger not only harms the battery but also shortens the riding range of the electric vehicle.
Fourth, overloading consumption.
With the same battery and the same electric vehicle, when heavily loaded the whole machine is forced to run at high discharge current without current-limiting protection, so the battery is forced to discharge, causing internal damage that shortens battery life.
Finally, a reminder: if the brakes do not release fully, friction on the wheels increases and a lot of power is wasted, so the electric vehicle cannot run far.
