Your Battery Does Not Last? You May Be Using It Wrong!
Nowadays, electric vehicles have become most people’s first choice for getting around, loved by the public for their compact size and the convenience of riding as soon as they are charged. Yet whether an electric vehicle runs far does not depend on its appearance or its brand; the core lies in the battery. The battery is like the heart of a person, governing the use of the whole vehicle.
Recently, though, a friend said that his battery stopped running far not long after it was replaced. Is it really the battery’s problem? Not entirely! A large part of it has to do with battery maintenance. Good maintenance can make your battery last much longer. So how should we maintain our batteries? Today we bring you a few tips:
1. Protect the charger.
Do not keep the charger in the trunk or the basket of the electric bike. If it has to be moved in special circumstances, wrap it in foam plastic to protect it from vibration and jolts.
2. Avoid overcharging.
For convenience, many people charge their electric vehicles all night long. Overcharging hardens and sheds the active material on the plates, and causes water loss and deformation of the battery. The swollen batteries people talk about are exactly what overcharging produces.
3. Keep ventilation and heat dissipation.
When charging in the rain, many people like to wrap the charger up. This is extremely wrong and dangerous. A charger needs to shed heat while working, and once it is wrapped and the heat cannot escape, a fire can easily result over time. This must be taken seriously!
4. Avoid excessive discharge.
While riding, do not brake and restart the electric vehicle too frequently. On rough or crowded roads, ride slowly, and avoid the damage to the battery caused by the large current of frequent braking and starting.
These are the everyday habits that people commonly fall into, and they are extremely harmful to the battery, so be sure to pay attention!
