Why Are Electric Vehicle Battery Prices Going Up?
Recently, news about the fluctuating prices of electric vehicle batteries (lead-acid batteries) has been hotly discussed. Some people boldly predict that battery prices will climb sharply in the period ahead, hinting that dealers who fail to stock up will take a big loss. Will battery prices really go up?
Lead plates are the raw material of lead-acid battery manufacturing. All along, swings in this upstream price have changed the costs of downstream assembly and internal curing processes, but battery makers adjust the factory shipping price in time according to their raw material purchases, so selling batteries in line with the market is a very typical phenomenon in the industry. Since the prices of lead and plate raw materials have hovered at a high level in recent years, fluctuations in the shipping prices of lead-acid batteries are normal. In the last half month, the price adjustments of lead-acid batteries have stayed entirely within a reasonable range.
Over the past two weeks, the price of lead has risen from 16000 to 18000. We believe that for a while to come, electric vehicle battery prices will also adjust accordingly.
