Do Xupai Batteries Contain Cadmium?
Recently some people have asked us what the symbol of Cd with a slash on a Xupai battery means. It is the cadmium-free mark.

Most electric vehicle batteries (lead-acid) produced before 2013 had cadmium and arsenic added; adding cadmium and arsenic to the plate alloy improves plate performance, increases plate strength and crystal density, makes them more corrosion-resistant, and raises the hydrogen-evolution potential, so the battery loses water less easily, which extends battery life and improves stability. However, cadmium and arsenic are seriously harmful to the human body. Cadmium can damage the liver and kidneys and cause anemia, high blood pressure, neuralgia, soft bones, nephritis, and endocrine disorders. Arsenic destroys the oxidation-reduction ability of cells, affects normal cell metabolism, causes tissue damage and organ dysfunction, and leads to cancer and other serious diseases; inhaling too much arsenic can directly cause poisoning and death.
Since 2014, the Lead-acid Battery Industry Access Conditions, drawn up by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and industry associations, have clearly stipulated that existing production capacity for lead-acid batteries and their lead-containing parts with cadmium content above 0.002% or arsenic content above 0.1% must be phased out before December 31, 2013.
Xupai Battery strictly follows national regulations; all batteries it produces contain no arsenic or cadmium, and its independently developed new technology uses other methods to improve plate performance and increase strength and crystal density. This is also one of the reasons why Xupai batteries deliver more power and a longer range.
