Electric vehicles are loved for their convenience and eco-friendliness, but many consumers ride for a long time without knowing the model of their battery, and when it is time to replace it, they do not know which model to choose. Most electric vehicle batteries on the market today are either 48V or 36V, so how do you tell them apart? Here Xupai shows you!

Generally there are three methods:

1. Estimate the battery model from the distance a new vehicle can travel

1. Around 30 km, it is probably a 36V12A battery.

2. Around 40 km, it is probably a 48V12A battery.

3. Around 60-80 km: if the battery is under the seat, or under the footrest in a single box, it is probably a 48V20A battery; if the battery is under the footrest made up of two long boxes, it is probably a 48V28A battery.

2. Identify the battery model from the charger by looking at its output current, and match it against the parameters below to find the model:

Tip: look at the output voltage on the charger, shown as **V DC;

For 36V models, the output voltage is 36V-42V DC;

if the output current is 1.5A, it is a 10AH battery; if it is 1.6A, it is a 12AH battery;

For 48V models, the output voltage is 48V-59V DC;

if the output current is 1.7A, it is a 48V10AH battery; if it is 1.8A, it is a 48V12AH battery;

if the output current is 2.0A, it is a 48V14AH battery; if it is 2.3A, it is a 48V17AH battery;

if the output current is 2.5A, it is a 48V20AH battery;

3. Confirm from the number of batteries in the pack

How do you tell a 48V from a 36V electric vehicle battery? A 48V pack is usually made of four 12V batteries, and a 36V pack of three 12V batteries. Because the 48V pack has one more battery and a higher voltage, it has an advantage in speed and mileage, which is also closely tied to the motor power. For a 48V vehicle with a 16A battery, a single charge covers about 45-50 km, and with a 20A battery, about 60 km; a 36V vehicle can cover at most about 35 km, and only if the battery is at least 14A. Because its voltage is lower, its hill-climbing ability is far behind that of a 48V vehicle. The larger the battery capacity, the higher the price: four 48V20A batteries from a reputable manufacturer cost about 700-800 yuan, while a 36V14A set usually costs only about 320 yuan. In short, what kind of vehicle you need depends on your usual riding distance and how many hills there are; it is best to choose an ordinary bicycle-style model, which has a low return-repair rate, allows manual pedaling assistance uphill, reduces the chance of damage to the battery, motor, and controller, and gives a longer battery life.

The above is an introduction to identifying electric vehicle battery models and the difference between 48V and 36V batteries. We hope it is helpful.
