The electric vehicle battery is the power source of an e-bike, but many people use their e-bike incorrectly, which shortens battery life. So how do you maintain an electric vehicle battery? Xupai shows you how.

1. Do not store the battery in a discharged state. Storing it discharged tends to cause sulfation, which blocks the ion channels and reduces capacity. Being in a discharged state for a long time will seriously damage the battery. Recommendation: store the battery after charging, which is good for its service life.

2. Check often. The battery should be inspected regularly to avoid problems arising during use, such as weak cells, broken grids, plate softening, and shedding of active material from the plates. If a problem is found during inspection, it should be repaired or the battery re-matched promptly.

3. Avoid high-current discharge. When the e-bike carries passengers or starts off, a high-current discharge can form lead-sulfate crystals and damage the battery plates. Therefore, during use, try to avoid high-current discharge from the battery so as not to affect its service life.

4. Prevent direct sun exposure and water immersion. Prolonged direct sunlight increases the internal pressure of the battery, forcing its pressure-limiting valve open and causing water loss, which reduces the battery's activity and accelerates plate softening. Likewise, a battery immersed in water can easily short-circuit its positive and negative poles, affecting its service life, and in serious cases may directly cause the battery to be scrapped.
