We usually park our electric vehicles outdoors when stopping temporarily, so rainy days are hard to avoid. Will the battery get waterlogged on a rainy day? What should you do if water gets in?

1. If the battery is soaked, let it dry before charging

Electric vehicles generally come with plenty of waterproofing measures, so it usually does not matter if the vehicle is wetted by rain. But this does not mean you can drive through water at will. A special reminder to all owners: after the battery is wetted by rain, do not charge it right away; place the vehicle in a ventilated spot and let it dry fully before charging.

2. A waterlogged controller is prone to short circuits and loss of control

Can water get into an electric vehicle battery? Once the controller of an e-bike takes in water, it can easily cause the motor to spin in reverse. If the vehicle has been seriously soaked, you can remove the controller, wipe out the water inside, dry it with a hair dryer, and reinstall it. After installation, it is best to wrap the controller in plastic to increase its waterproofing ability.

3. Riding through water is difficult because the resistance of the water is great, and balance can easily be lost. On a flooded road, if a manhole cover pushed open by the current happens to appear, the danger is very real. So when you meet a flooded section, it is best to get off and push the vehicle.

Nowadays batteries are made better and better, and many come with dedicated waterproof pressure-relief components. During normal operation these components vent air quickly; when the gas reaches a critical value they instantly open straight to the outside, releasing large amounts of gas and quickly relieving the strong internal pressure, avoiding explosion or reducing the damage of one.

Although the quality of electric vehicle batteries keeps improving, some inferior batteries still make it onto the market, so when choosing a battery you can pick one of better quality, such as a Xupai battery.
