How to Prevent Electric Vehicle Fires in Summer High Temperatures
As the weather gets hotter day by day, electric vehicle fires occur from time to time, causing unnecessary property losses to the victims.
Case 1:
A fire broke out in a rented house in Yahu Village, Renhe Town, Baiyun District, Guangzhou, and several people were trapped. The fire department arrived quickly after receiving the alarm and successfully rescued the trapped people; the accident caused no casualties. Investigation preliminarily suspected that an electric vehicle parked under the carport on the first floor caught fire because of a short circuit while charging in high temperature.
Case 2:
An electric vehicle fire occurred on the first floor of a 12-story rental residential building with a steel-concrete structure in Qianjing, Baoan, Shenzhen, killing 7 people, injuring 4, and burning 20 electric vehicles.
Case 3:
A fire broke out at an electric vehicle shop in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, and was extinguished after more than an hour. The burned area was about 20 square meters, and more than 20 trapped people were evacuated from the scene, fortunately without casualties. The burning building was a 6-story residence: the second floor and above were used as apartments, and the burning room was the electric vehicle shop on the first floor.

In hot weather, how can we charge electric vehicles safely?
1. Never expose the vehicle to strong sunlight
Leaving an electric vehicle directly in the sun makes it very likely that the battery will fail, and in high temperature the battery may even catch fire, so exposure to strong sunlight must be avoided.
2. Never charge in a high-temperature environment
Hot weather plus the heat generated during charging makes the battery surface extremely hot, which can melt the protective shell on the battery surface or even cause a fire, so always charge in a cool and well-ventilated place.
3. Never charge immediately after riding
After riding in high temperature the vehicle is very hot, and the plastic shell of an electric vehicle is flammable. Charging directly would let the battery temperature keep rising to its ignition point, which may cause a safety accident.
4. Keep charging time under control
In summer, try to charge the electric vehicle during the daytime. After the charger light switches, keep a float charge for two hours and then unplug it. This helps extend battery life and avoids the safety risks of overnight charging.
5. The charger must match the battery
Choose a good-quality electric vehicle charger whose parameters match the battery. This protects battery life while reducing the probability of fire.
6. A high-quality battery matters
When buying an electric vehicle, be sure to choose qualified manufacturers, especially for the battery. Prefer high-quality brand batteries with a good reputation, such as Xupai batteries. Xupai batteries are of very solid quality with good service. Sales, customer service, technical support and repair are very well established, so consumers can receive better after-sales service.
